Alaska, Here I Come! by Max Sweet

Max's Alaska Adventure Trip (Day 2): This was a hot day. The sun was blazing, and I got to experience something new... It was my first time to spend some time alone inside Graycie-van while Mom and Dad explored outside. But guess what? I wasn't scared at all! I love having my own space, especially with my cozy low bed in Graycie-van. It's the perfect spot for amazing naps anytime! The temperature is always just right and I feel as safe and secure as a squirrel with a nut stash, even when Mom and Dad aren't around. One of my top activities when I am alone and not sleeping is to hop into Dad's chair behind the big wheel and gaze out the windows. Watching people go by is like my own personal soap opera, and they often stop to chat with me and tell me how ridiculously cute I am!

So, Mom and Dad spent a lot of time outside Graycie-van today because they ventured into this huge building they called a “church” for something Mom described as a “leadership conference.” I have no clue what that means, but Mom mentioned that dogs aren’t allowed. Soon enough, Dad returned to take me outside, and I was thrilled to lead him around the parking lot on the leash, just like I do with Mom. I wasn’t sure if he might get lost like Mom sometimes does, but better safe than sorry! Since it was hot, Dad and I grabbed our camping chairs and relaxed together under some shady trees right beside Graycie-van in the middle of that huge church parking lot! We hung out, sipped water, and greeted other people until Mom finally came out from the big church building to join us. Then, all three of us hopped into Graycie-van and headed to one of my human family’s houses.

My Aunt Juanell
My Aunt Juanell

This was my first time meeting this person! Mom and Dad introduced her as my Aunt Juanell, and I instantly liked her. She read us stories from her books and let me play with a super fun ball toy I found under her sofa. It used to belong to her cat Samantha before Samantha went away forever. In return, I was on my best behavior and showed Aunt Juanell my tricks while Mom rewarded me with treats. It’s such a fun way to get special treats from Mom! She seems really happy when I do what she asks, and I love it because she always surprises me with the best tasting treats! Before we left, I took Mom on a few long walks around the neighborhood where we saw and smelled lots of other dogs, some squirrels, and even a couple of bunny rabbits. I went to bed super excited because Mom says we’re heading to Alaska tomorrow! - Max
